Snowshoe– Snowshoe is located in Pocahontas County, WV. 33 minutes from Johnny B’s Campground. Winter activities include skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and tubing amount some of the highest-level trails in the region. The area receives a significant amount of snowfall making it ideal for winter sports. Summer activities include mountain biking, golfing, hiking, zip-lining, scenic lift rides, and outdoor concerts. Kumbrabow State Forest– Kumbrabow State Forest is located only 20 minutes from Johnny B’s Campground. Tucked away in the mountains, Kumbrabow offers many things for the family to do. Take your family out on a hike on the many trails located within the forest and when your done set up for a picnic in the designated picnic areas. Kumbrabow State Forest is home to several streams and ponds, providing opportunities for fishing enthusiasts. Anglers can try their luck catching various species of trout and other freshwater fish. Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad– Located in Elkins, WV 31 minutes from Johnny B’s Campground. The railroad is a family friendly attraction, offering something for everyone to enjoy. National Radio Astronomy Observatory – Located in Greenbank, WV 45 minutes from Johnny B’s Campground. The observatory is home of the world largest fully steerable radio telescopes, the Robert C. Byrd Telescope. The observatory is located within the National Radio Quiet Zone, a designated area where radio transmissions are restricted to stop interference with the radio astronomy. The Green Bank Observatory features a visitor center where guests can learn about the science behind radio astronomy, explore interactive exhibits, and take guided tours of the telescope facilities. Visitors can also participate in hands-on activities and view live observations of celestial objects through smaller telescopes.
